Iam Oliver
Life began for me in the sleepy quintessential village of Grassington in the West Ridings of Yorkshire, a jewel in the crown of the Yorkshire Dales. The small market town still feels like a village with its cobbled streets and stunning views in the heart of the Yorkshire Dales National Park. It is home to TV and radio series, such as the Archers radio series and the James Herriot television series, All Creatures Great and Small.
I started my writing career in the summer of 2017 and have since completed nine full-length novels and a trilogy. Like most first-time writers, I made several mistakes along the way.
Falling prey to well-laid publishing traps was easy for any novice writer to do, and, having learnt from my mistakes, I think I have finally found the solution to writing successfully. I now have a “must do and don’t do” list that shouts at me before I make the same mistakes again. I now adhere to those principles in all aspects of my writing.
The lesson that it taught me was to not go it alone but, rather, seek help from the experts. When you think about it, it makes good sense, although there will be a price to pay.
My advice to anyone who is embarking on a writing journey is to take your time and choose well and wisely. There are plenty of sharks circling in the waters, always ready and willing to take your money. Don’t fall for it. Think twice, and you will find a solution that suits you.
Having learnt my lessons and paid for my mistakes with a rogue publisher who did nothing to improve my image in the overcrowded world of book publishing, I concentrated on writing novel after novel with the goal of improving my writing skills until I was satisfied that my work was good enough to publish. Consequently, I released my first novel this year:
THE BOOK OF AESOP The New World Order is the first in a series of four novels to be followed by Lupin, Walking with Shadows and Revenge
